Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or you’ve already experimented with watercolor, this workshop is a chance to learn, create, and become more confident with the medium.

Have you always wanted to try watercolor but weren’t sure where to start?

Or maybe you’ve taken a class before and would love to keep learning, explore new techniques, and develop your own style.

Over six weeks, we’ll learn through a variety of guided projects, with step-by-step instruction and plenty of room to experiment and make the artwork your own.

You don’t need to know how to draw, and no previous watercolor experience is required.

WHAT WILL WE EXPLORE?

- Throughout the workshop, we’ll explore:

- Color mixing and creating harmonious color palettes

- Water and paint control

- Light, shadows, texture, and depth

- Flowers and botanical elements

- Working from reference photos

- Simple drawing techniques and helpful shortcuts

- A variety of watercolor techniques and effects

- How to develop your own artistic style

- How to paint your own home in watercolor

The projects are designed to give beginners a strong foundation while giving those with some experience new techniques, ideas, and creative challenges to explore.

Most importantly, you’ll learn skills you can continue using to create your own paintings at home.

A few years ago, I taught a watercolor workshop for a group of retired friends. Some had painted before, while others were completely new to watercolor.

Many weren’t sure what they would be able to create.

Watching their confidence grow — and seeing their smiles when they finished a painting they were proud of — was one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

“I painted this!”

is one of my favorite things to help people discover.
